The Thrift Shop is located in Building 540 (behind the Richard Bong Theater). Call the store for more information at 226-4447.

We operate the thrift shop in conjunction with the Misawa Officers Spouses' Club. We are very proud of the work we do there. It's a wonderful place to find great deals on second hand treasures and a fun and fulfilling place to work or volunteer.

There is a special on something every day that we are open. One day it may be women's pants the next it may be baby clothes. Sometimes we offer a paper bag full of books for $1.

E-4 and Below Program

All service members with a rank of E-1 to E-4 have the opportunity to shop once a month and recieve up to $20 of donated items at no charge.

Free Uniform Program

Active duty personnel can sign for 2 sets of uniforms a month free of charge. This includes

- Two tops
- Two bottoms
- Pair of shoes
We carry every type of uniform item available in the military including ranks, hats, and pt gear.

These items are NOT available to dependents. You must have an active duty ID card to receive items.

We Care Passport Program

The thrift store is proud to be a part of the We Care Passport program. Families of deployed service members can present the passport can recieve up to $10 of donated items at no charge.

Donations

Donations can be made at any time at the drop-off boxes located behind the wooden fence on the right side of the building. We appreciate:

  • Clothes
  • Books
  • Household items
  • Sheets and comforters
  • Movies
  • Music
  • Etc, etc, etc...

Please make sure items are clean, free of stains (even ones that would wash out), clothes are undamaged, and household items, toys, etc., work as advertised.  If you have an item that is no longer in working order, please place it in front of your house for trash pick-up instead of bringing it to the store.

All items that are in good condition and that we cannot use at our store are donated to the Morioka Orphanage.

Volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

The store couldn't run without our volunteers.  Please note that spouses and teenage children of REGISTERED MESC members can be counted toward our monthly volunteer hours.

  • When sending in, please check under the MESC column.
  • Volunteers can donate as little as one 1/2 hour.

Please come in when the store is open for further information.

The profits generated by the Thrift Shop help fund our scholarship programs and our charitable donations to the schools, the library, and many other base activities.
